Topics in Multi-User Information Theory
نویسنده
چکیده
This survey reviews fundamental concepts of multi-user information theory. Starting with typical sequences, the survey builds up knowledge on random coding, binning, superposition coding, and capacity converses by introducing progressively more sophisticated tools for a selection of source and channel models. The problems addressed include: Source Coding; Rate-Distortion and Multiple Descriptions; Capacity-Cost; The Slepian–Wolf Problem; The Wyner-Ziv Problem; The Gelfand-Pinsker Problem; The Broadcast Channel; The Multiaccess Channel; The Relay Channel; The Multiple Relay Channel; and The Multiaccess Channel with Generalized Feedback. The survey also includes a review of basic probability and information theory. Notations and Acronyms We use standard notation for probabilities, random variables, entropy, mutual information, and so forth. Table 1 lists notation developed in the appendices of this survey, and we use this without further explanation in the main body of the survey. We introduce the remaining notation as we go along. The reader is referred to the appendices for a review of the relevant probability and information theory concepts. Table 1 Probability and information theory notation. متن کاملIdentification of the underlying factors affecting information seeking behavior of users interacting with the visual search option in EBSCO: a grounded theory study
Background and Aim: Information seeking is interactive behavior of searcher with information systems and this active interaction occurs in a real environment known as background or context. This study investigated the factors influencing the formation of layers of context and their impact on the interaction of the user with search option dialoge in EBSCO database. Method: Data from 28 semi-stru...
متن کاملQuery expansion based on relevance feedback and latent semantic analysis
Web search engines are one of the most popular tools on the Internet which are widely-used by expert and novice users. Constructing an adequate query which represents the best specification of users’ information need to the search engine is an important concern of web users. Query expansion is a way to reduce this concern and increase user satisfaction. In this paper, a new method of query expa...

Nowadays most of the day today services we receive are based upon computer systems. Services such as information searching or online shopping are considered among the most frequent online information systems' services. Users assess and process the information they receive from information systems. The theory of mind information processing asserts that humans process and analyze the information ...
متن کاملSimilarity measurement for describe user images in social media
Online social networks like Instagram are places for communication. Also, these media produce rich metadata which are useful for further analysis in many fields including health and cognitive science. Many researchers are using these metadata like hashtags, images, etc. to detect patterns of user activities. However, there are several serious ambiguities like how much reliable are these informa...
